SWEDISH GOVERNMENT

"All public power proceeds from the people. This is the foundation of the Swedish system of government. Everyone has the same rights and is free to scrutinize how politicians and public agencies exercise their power."

The Swedish system of government is a parliamentary democracy. Meaning the party with the government with the greatest representation in the parliament forms the government. The leader of their party becomes the Prime Minister of Sweden. The Prime minister is responsible for forming the government and choosing ministers for the cabinet.

Parliament consists of 349 members and citizens have to be 18 years or older to serve in it. Parliament is responsible for making decisions that the government implements. General elections are held every four years and there are over seven million eligible voters in Sweden.

The Swedish Constitution is made up of four fundamental laws:

1. Instrument of Government: guarantees citizens right to obtain information freely, hold demonstrations, form political parties and practice religion

2.Act of Succession: regulates rights of members of the House of Bernadotte and the royal family

3. Freedom of the Press Act: sets out the principle of public access to official documents, allows people to study these documents

4. Fundamental Law on Freedom of Expression: started in 1992, prohibits censorship, and freedom to communicate information and the right to anonymity

Implications for REI

Sweden's government and business regulations are important things to consider when starting a business like REI. Luckily, both factors have positive implications for REI and Bonfiglio Consulting would highly recommend that REI expands to Sweden. Especially since there is no license or corporate tax payable necessary for this business, it would be highly profitable for REI to expand. Even relocating managers and their families would be fairly easy considering the accessibility to permits for work.
